Charlott Szukala

human beings

The sculptor Charlott Szukala works in wood, ceramics and terracotta. Her theme is the natural self-expression of the human figure. Forged above all from wood and clay as natural materials, Szukala’s figures are often women. Her formal idiom is expressive, distorting and exaggerating proportions to depict energetic, life-affirming figures and dispensing with capricious detail. Although these works are dynamic and the materials rudimentary, her figures display a graceful, strong self-composure
