The Mystery of Visual Perception

Christoph Klein’s collages are the result of process of analyzing and synthesizing, and show us the power and powerlessness of vis-ual perception.
What we think we can see is often what we know already, as our perception draws on our own scope of experience. If just seeing with-out reflecting is an end in itself, then it has failed in its actual task: to identify what is truly going on. The seemingly visible always has an underlying inherent truth that can only be recognized if you allow yourself to discon-nect from the superficiality of what you are seeing.
To Christoph Klein, the aim of art is to “give a feeling of seeing the subject, not recognizing it.”
