Being Human

Margot Grote’s work explores what it means to be human and the challenges life presents. What do we need to take command? Her pictures, primarily executed in acrylic paint, crayon and charcoal using a variety of techniques, depict representational shapes and figures elevated to an abstract level. Some of these works reflect life situations. The colours and shapes may be suggestive, harmonious and balanced, or at times bewildering, depending on her expressive intent and her selections. Metaphors might symbolise our daily dealings with each other, but the artist leaves it to her viewers to probe and interpret for themselves.
