Axel Pfannenschmidt

Sculpture

A Matter of Ones' Point of View

The work of Axel Pfannenschmidt is based on ceramic sculptures, which are supplemented by wood, steel, feathers or glass to create fascinating objects. The figures are carved and, for the most part, maintain their characteristic blackness through the so-called Raku burning process, which originates in Japan. Finally, the artist combines his work with an interesting material mix of found wood, metal or glass. This creates wall-mounted and free-standing objects that express calm and serenity, melancholy, longing and hope.
