Karin Müller-Grunewald

Photography / Montage

An interest in landscapes, architecture and structures influences the artistic work of Karin Müller-Grunewald. A particularly striking feature of her work is the way she deals with light, color and shadow. Her photographs depict objects and situations with extraordinary precision. By then transforming the photographs through a montage process, the artist is able to create a completely new image that goes beyond reality. Overlaying various photographs from slightly different perspectives creates a time-space dimension, a form of stratigraphy in photography. The intensity of the colors allows the images themselves to shine out.
