Bianca Burow

Painting / Ink drawings

The essence of Bianca Burow’s art consists of figurative sketches of people. She makes delicate, detailed snapshots of figures, filled with life, movement and encounters. Her ink drawings and paintings are a stylized depiction of moments in time and situations in everyday life. The minimalist contouring of her lines brings the scenes to life and sparks the imagination. Burow's wooden sculptures are a tangible representation of these moments, in which the old, hand-forged nails seem to become figures. As a new material for a special substrate, Burow uses planed and sanded oak from her own woods. The living wood gives the figures a complex background, which creates a partial sense of perspective.
